Today saw my bravery soar from cockroach tolerance to motorbike riding!

We all (the group is so ace everyone’s up for everything we do) hired a motorbike tour guide and spent about 5 hours touring the area.  There was lots to see and it was a great way to take in the area. We loved it!

Children on the steps of the Colosseum where elephants and tigers were pitted against each other up until around 1910. Gorgeous.

The neatly lined monk’s slippers outside while they chant in the temple.

Inside the temple during the third chant of the day

At the height of fashion: we tried on the incredibly elaborate conical hats that are synonymous with Hue. They take five hours to make and include a silhouette design with hearts and people and flowers between the two layers.

This guy’s pretty confident about his riding skills right?

A particularly studious trainee monk struggles to follow the latter part of the chant using his text to help him and joining in where he can

We are staying in this hotel for one night and tomorrow we head off to Hoi An for three days.

Tonight we had dinner at a classic Vietnamese place where they have a gimmick of taking bottle tops off with these nifty little wooden things. We got to take one home! (and drink the beer…)

You were riding a motorbike?! I mean driving it? If so….. Blimey. Your first time as pillion AND first ride, all in the same week!
